Take 15 minutes to write out how your sin as produced negative consequences in your life. In other words why do you (or should you) hate the sin you so easily embrace at a moment of temptation.
Seeing how this sin has negatively affects our lives can at times, be a motivating factor towards a repentant lifestyle.
When Jesus told the story of the lost son there was a moment in the narrative where it was said:
17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. (Luke 15:17-20)
As Christian, we need to daily remind ourselves and come to our senses in light of how we sin. We also need to remind our selves of the good news of Christ forgiveness and freedom we can have as His children
In the fight against your sin- whether it be lusting, losing your temper, being greedy, etc, don’t be numb to the consequence or ignore conviction of the Holy Spirit. Cultivate that hatred of sin through remembering the sorrow it brings
